An Australian woman recently tried to purchase two iPhones through an online classifieds website and was suckered out of $1335 when the boxes she purchased contained anything but Apple's popular smartphone. On the contrary, the woman paid $1335 for two boxes, each of which contained an actual apple.

Police from the Upper Mt Gravatt Crime Prevention Unit say the 21-year-old woman placed an advertisement on the site saying she was interested in buying a few iPhones.Not long after she put the word out, a woman called and said she had two of the phone types the woman needed.The two women arranged to meet at Sunnybank McDonald's where the transaction took place. The woman paid $1500 and was handed two iPhone boxes that looked new but she did not check inside.
Now why someone would try and purchase two new iPhones via a classifieds site is beyond me. Even more mind boggling is that meeting at a McDonald's didn't tip the woman off that maybe, just maybe, there was something sketchy about the whole deal. And on top of that, it's curious that the woman didn't even open the iPhone boxes at the McDonalds to ensure that she was getting what she was paying for.
Let this be a lesson - either pick up an iPhone from a reputable source, or at the very least, inspect the goods in question before handing over hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in cash.
